Probation Period End Calculator FAQ
Answers about method, inputs, privacy, boundaries and responsible interpretation.
How is the probation end date calculated?
By calendar-month addition: the end date is the same day of the month, the set number of months after the start date. A 3-month probation starting 15 January ends on 15 April, and the result also shows the weekday of the end date.
Why months rather than a fixed number of days?
Because months run from 28 to 31 days, a fixed day count would land on different dates depending on where in the year the period starts. Counting in calendar months keeps the end on the same numbered day, which is how probation lengths in months are normally expressed.
What happens if the start day does not exist in the final month?
The end date clamps to that month's last day. One month from 31 October 2025 ends on 30 November 2025, and 1 month from 31 January 2026 ends on 28 February 2026, rather than rolling into the month after.
Does the end date move if it falls on a weekend or holiday?
No. The calculation is a pure calendar shift and does not adjust for weekends or public holidays, so the reported date can fall on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday. Any adjustment for non-working days would come from the contract or workplace practice, not from this tool.
Is this the legally binding end of my probation?
The tool reports the calendar end of a period of the length you entered; it applies no contract wording of its own. How a particular contract words its probation period, including any notice or review dates inside it, is a matter for that contract, so check the date against your own paperwork.
