What you get

The last day of the quarter containing any date

Enter a date and the month your fiscal year starts in — January for calendar quarters. The calculator finds the quarter the date falls in and reports its final day, along with the quarter’s start date, its length in days and how many days remain in it.

★Method

Three-month blocks from the year start

Quarters are counted in three-month blocks from the fiscal-year start month. With an April start, for example, Q1 runs April to June and a date in October falls in Q3. The quarter end is always the last calendar day of the block’s third month.

◎Example

Worked example: a May date and an October date

With a January start, 18 May 2026 falls in Q2, which ends on 30 June 2026 — 43 days after the entered date. With an April fiscal start, 20 October 2026 falls in fiscal Q3, ending 31 December 2026.

⌁Limits

Quarter lengths and other limits

Quarters are not all the same length: they run from 90 to 92 days depending on the months they cover, and a quarter containing February is a day longer in a leap year. Enter a date that is itself a quarter end and the days remaining is 0. The tool works in whole days and calendar months only; it does not model 4-4-5 retail calendars or 13-period years.
