What you get

How the semester length is counted

Enter the first and last dates of the semester or term. The calculator counts the days between them and reports the length as whole weeks plus remaining days, with the total days, calendar duration, approximate months and weekday count alongside.

★Method

Weeks first, then the detail

The headline result divides the total days by 7, giving whole weeks and leftover days. The detail rows show the exact calendar duration in months and days, an approximate month count (total days ÷ 30.436875) and the Monday-to-Friday weekdays in the span, counting both the first and the last date.

◎Example

Worked example

1 September 2026 to 15 December 2026 is 105 days: 15 weeks, 0 days. The calendar duration is 3 months, 14 days (about 3.45 months), with 76 weekdays.

⌁Limits

Order does not matter, breaks do not pause it

Swapping the two dates gives the same result, because the length is the absolute span between them. Every day inside the span counts alike: reading weeks, holidays and breaks are included as ordinary days, not deducted.

Common questions

Semester Length Calculator FAQ

Answers about method, inputs, privacy, boundaries and responsible interpretation.

How is the length of a semester counted?

Enter the first and last dates of the semester or term. The calculator counts the days between them and reports the length as whole weeks plus remaining days, with the total days, the calendar duration, approximate months and the weekday count alongside.

What does the worked example give?

1 September 2026 to 15 December 2026 is 105 days: 15 weeks, 0 days. The calendar duration is 3 months, 14 days (about 3.45 months), with 76 weekdays.

How is the approximate month count worked out?

By dividing the total days by 30.436875, the average month length. It is an approximation for comparison; the calendar duration in whole months and days is the exact figure.

Are reading weeks and holidays deducted?

No. Every day inside the span counts alike: reading weeks, holidays and breaks are included as ordinary days, not deducted, so the result is the full calendar length of the term.

Does it matter which date I enter first?

No. Swapping the two dates gives the same result, because the length is the absolute span between them.
