What you get

Whole weeks first, then the days left over

Enter a start date and an end date. The calculator counts the days between them and splits the total into complete seven-day weeks plus the remaining days, so a span is reported as weeks and days rather than a decimal.

★Method

Days counted, then grouped into weeks

The method is a straight day count between the two dates on the real calendar, leap days included, divided by seven. The whole-number part is the complete weeks; whatever is left over, from 0 to 6, is reported as remaining days.

◎Example

Worked example: 1 January to 20 October 2026

From 1 January 2026 to 20 October 2026 there are 292 days, which split into 41 complete weeks and 5 remaining days. Enter the same dates above and the calculator returns the same split.

⌁Limits

Short spans and boundaries

A span shorter than seven days returns 0 complete weeks with all the days in the remainder, and an exact multiple of seven leaves 0 remaining days. The count measures the gap between the two dates; if you need both the first and last day included in a booking or deadline, add a day to the end date before calculating.

Common questions

Weeks Between Dates Calculator FAQ

Answers about method, inputs, privacy, boundaries and responsible interpretation.

How are the weeks between two dates counted?

The calculator counts the days between the start and end dates on the real calendar, leap days included, then divides by seven. The whole-number part is the complete weeks and whatever is left over, from 0 to 6, is reported as remaining days.

How many weeks are between 1 January and 20 October 2026?

There are 292 days in that span, which splits into 41 complete weeks and 5 remaining days. Enter the same start and end dates and the calculator returns the same split.

What do I get for a span shorter than one week?

A span of fewer than seven days returns 0 complete weeks, with all the days shown in the remainder. At the other boundary, a span that is an exact multiple of seven leaves 0 remaining days.

Does the count include both the first and the last day?

It measures the gap between the two dates, so it does not add an extra day for the endpoints. If you need both the first and last day included, for example for a booking or a deadline, add a day to the end date before calculating.

Can I use this to check a pregnancy or project timeline in weeks?

Yes, the weeks-and-days split is the form most timelines use, but check the convention of the timeline you are matching: some count from the start day itself rather than the gap between dates, which shifts the remainder by a day. The day count underneath stays the same either way.
