What you get

How working days in the period are counted

Enter the first and last day of the period — the 1st and the final day of a month for a monthly count — choose a weekend pattern, and optionally apply one of the holiday calendars. The calculator counts the days that are neither weekend days nor listed public holidays, and reports the calendar days, weekend days and holidays excluded alongside the result.

★Method

Day-by-day exclusion

Every date in the period is tested in turn: days in your chosen weekend pattern are skipped, and any remaining day that matches a public holiday in the selected calendar is excluded as well. What is left is the working-day count. With no holiday calendar applied, only the weekend days are removed.

◎Example

Worked example: October 2026

October 2026 has 31 calendar days, of which 9 are Saturdays or Sundays, leaving 22 working days with no holiday calendar. Applying the United States (federal) calendar removes one more — Columbus Day on Monday, October 12 — giving 21 working days.

⌁Limits

The weekend pattern changes the answer

The same October 2026 counts 21 working days under a Friday-and-Saturday weekend, because that pattern removes 10 days instead of 9. A holiday that falls on a weekend day is not removed twice. The result is a count of days in the period you entered — it takes no account of part-time schedules, annual leave or shift patterns.
